Banana Bread with walnuts and chocolate chips

This dessert is often prepared at home, as everyone likes it. Over ripened bananas are put to good use this way. If I am not free, I peel the bananas and freeze it in a ziplock to use it later .

Ingredients

3 Bananas

2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup granulated sugar

1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup, or 8 tablespoons)

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

¾ teaspoon cinnamon powder

2 large eggs

1 ½ table spoons milk

½ teaspoon salt

¼ cup walnuts

¼ cup chocolate chips

Method

Soften the butter to room temperature add sugar and beat until sugar melts. Add eggs one at a time, beat for about 4 minutes.

In a bowl mash the bananas using a fork. Add milk and cinnamon.

In another bowl add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix thoroughly.

Add the banana mix to the egg and butter mixture and stir well. Add the dry ingredients and mix it well.

You can add nuts, chocolate chips to the batter according to your preference. My children like chocolate chips and we both like walnuts. So I have added walnuts to half the batter and chocolate chips to rest of the half.

Heat the oven to 325 degree F. Butter the loaf pan 9 x 5x 3. Pour the batter in it and bake for 1hr 15 minutes. If the toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, its done. If not bake for another 5 minutes. Allow it to cool. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
